As Video Producers, we at the Tremble Tremble blog find it interesting to talk about the conceptualization of Music Videos. Once our cameras turned off after an interview with Sarah Assbring (AKA El Perro Del Mar), we started a discussion about the Change of Heart Video (which my good friend Diana blogged about here, if you haven’t seen it), and Sarah’s reactions to the concept were so insightful we turned the camera back on for one last question.

Just interviewed Nosaj Thing prior to his (really early) show at Lincoln Hall. In addition to being a really down to earth and truly interesting guy, he has an astonishingly good ear for eery melodies, and a really really deep bag of samples and live effects tricks that really bolster his live performance.

This wasn’t a DJ set. I felt like I had fallen into a dance club on a space ship with instruments created by coked-out all-night djs from the past, full of badly dressed alien glitch-trash from the future.

If you get a chance to see Nosaj Thing live, do not miss it at any cost. I think he is vitally significant to the progression of American electronic music/hip hop/whatever the hell kind of music he plays. It’s beautiful, it’s dark, it’s scary, it’s grimey, it’s loud, and it’s exactly what I’ve wanted to hear almost every single day this LONG LONG LONG Chicago winter.
